Health professionals today like to use the term 'evidence based'.
Mother support is truly an evidence based intervention in health promotion through breastfeeding. WABA 2008 states:
Mother Support: Evidence that it Works
"The recent Cochrane Review evaluated 34 trials from 14 countries for effects on the duration of any breastfeeding (both partial and exclusive) and exclusive breastfeeding alone. The review found that all forms of support, professional and lay, analysed together, significantly extended the duration of any breastfeeding, and had an even greater effect on the duration of exclusive breastfeeding."
